About Me

I’m going to take the name LaMarcus X.

If I was a character in a story, I would want to be a member of a Royal Family saddled with a destiny and frustrated with the fact it is not as clear and easy as they made it sound. I would have some superhero style abilities too.

I had been thinking about this for some time and finally decided to do it. I can’t think of what happened that caused me to write it, but as I prepare the first version of my “about me” page the only thing that is coming to my mind is my year-end review.

My boss told me that I “needed to talk more.” They said they are scared when I’m quiet because they don’t know what I’m thinking when I’m quiet. I realized after Episode 7 of Lovecraft Country that I’ve kept myself small for others and put myself in a box so as not to fall into any black male stereotypes while, at the same time trying to be me, but who am I? What did I want to do that I haven’t done? What is holding me back? In truth, I don’t know but this where I hope to find somethings out.

I decided to find me so here I am taking advantage of being unassuming and invisible to do that. While I’m open for others to explore with me, I’m going it alone this time and if people choose to join, then so be it. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m going to promote it, but I’m not going to tie a lot of energy up in it. For now, it seems fun so I’m willing to give it a go.

This is my journey, my musings! The writing is messy, and the thoughts are crazed but this is my space to study them, see which ones good and which ones need to be tamed? Which ones can be kept, and which ones can bleed out? Which ones can be integrated, and which ones need to be thrown out?

If I end up really enjoying it and people like it maybe it can expand to a podcast or something.
